On the 19th of July, a tragic tragedy struck our community when we lost a shining star. Kierra Reichert was a beloved member of the community and alumna from Community School/MVSD. She died in a tragic car accident. Her sudden death has left an enormous void in the community, especially for her friends and family. We mourn her loss and reflect on Kierra’s life.
Kierra: A Rising Star in Academic and Professional Life
Kierra’s academic ability was well-recognized. She was a freshman at the University of Nevada Reno Honors College. Her teachers and peers were impressed by her academic and personal dedication.
Her career was also impressive. Kierra worked two jobs at the same time over the summer. She worked full-time for the U.S. Forest Service, but also part-time as a Pony Expresso employee. It was a testimony to her determination and work ethic that she managed to maintain multiple commitments.
A Passion for Adventure and Nature
Kierra was a true outdoor enthusiast with a passion for adventure. She often traveled to Alaska and the Methow Valley in order to follow her passions. Nature was a constant source of strength and comfort for her throughout her life. It helped to shape who she became as an individual.
Kierra was a skilled horsewoman, whose love for animals and strong character shone through her horsemanship. She left many in awe and further cemented her reputation as an individual who was passionate and determined.
Remembering Kierra – Tributes & Vigil
Kierra was often called a goofball by her friends, which is a testament to the jovial nature of her. Kierra’s vibrant personality and her genuine attitude to life made her a favorite among her family members. Everyone who knew Kierra was touched by her infectious joy, positivity and love.
After Kierra’s tragic death, the community gathered in Mountain Lion Stadium to hold a twilight memorial. The community’s love and admiration for Kierra was evident in this event. The community came together to share their condolences and memories, as well as comfort one another.
Mourning as a Community and Healing
We mourn Kierra’s death as a community with sadness. Each individual will grieve in a different way: some people may want to be alone, while others seek comfort by being around others. It is important to respect each individual’s grief response while also supporting each other through this difficult time.
The community came together to support Kierra’s parents and honor her memory by creating a website called the “Methow Family”.
The website offers resources to those in need of support, and allows contributions via a Meal Train account and GoFundMe.
Kierra’s legacy: A beacon of positivity
Kierra’s legacy will continue to live even though she was tragically taken from us too soon. She was a positive example who impacted all of those she met, from students to adventurers. Her academic achievements and her selflessness will be inspirational lessons for us all.
We celebrate Kierra’s life, even though we grieve her loss. Let us not forget the joy and love Kierra brought to our community as we go through these trying times. We will be guided by her memory.
